Shoppers at Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and other retailers are being urged to re-use toilet paper as prices continue to rise.
It comes as the Office for National Statistics (ONS) says the spike in inflation to a 40-year high of 10.1% last month was largely down to staples including toilet rolls and food prices. There was a time during the 2020 lockdown when people were restricted with how much toilet roll they could take home with their shopping.
Now, people are being urged to think carefully about how much paper they are using to wipe and the ‘dizzying’ price levels means people are looking at alternative methods to avoid the harsh costs. One solution – or what people say is a solution – is going viral on social media with people being advised to buy re-useable toilet roll which you can use and wash time and time again.
