Hanover County Public Schools recognized as top employer of Virginia veterans

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Hanover County Public Schools (HCPS) has earned recognition as a top employer of veterans.

Hanover County Public Schools is acknowledged as a top employer for Virginia military veterans and received a Virginia Values Veterans (V3) program certification.

According to the county, V3 is an official Commonwealth of Virginia program that helps employers implement nationally known best practices in recruiting, hiring and retaining high-skilled and reliable veterans.

“We are committed to doing everything possible to providing our veterans with opportunities that allow them to continue to serve our country – pouring directly into the next generation of leaders and servants,” said Dr. Michael Gill, Superintendent of Schools. “To the veterans who are already serving our schools, we thank you for your service and for continuing to make a difference in the lives of our students. To the veterans who are considering becoming a teacher, bus driver, or one of our many other vital roles, we thank you for your service and encourage you to join our dedicated public education staff. You are welcome, valued and very much wanted here.”

Hanover County Public schools aims to continuing working with the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and other partners that support veterans in Virginia.

Col. (Retired) Bob May of the South Anna District. “Their leadership and life experiences enrich our school communities, inspiring both staff and students alike. We are proud to have earned this certification and will use this as a reaffirmation of our commitment to those who have selflessly served our country.”
