Man Creates 3D-Printed Guns, Sells Them for $21,000 During NY Gun Buyback Event – NewsWars

A New York man devised an ingenious way to game the system by producing 3D-printed guns and selling them back to the state for profit.

Brazenly exploiting a loophole in anti-gun logic, a man who only identified himself as “Kem” to WKTV said he made the “firearms” out of parts he printed on a $200 3D printer he received for Christmas.

“I 3D-printed a bunch of lower receivers and frames for different kinds of firearms,” he said.

Kem then drove six hours to Utica, New York, where the state’s attorney general’s office was holding a no-questions-asked gun buyback event.

“They buy from you as many guns as you want to surrender,” WKTV reports.

Watch WKTV’s video report:

A man took home $21,000 in gift cards after bringing more than 100 3D-printed guns to the state attorney general’s buyback event in Utica last month.

“Nobody thought this through,” the man said. “When you look at the flyer, it is just the gravest thing Letitia James could have done. She literally put a bounty on 3D-printed guns… She said, ‘I will give you extra money if it doesn’t have a serial number on it.’”

“They made no specifications, they didn’t touch on any details. They had no fine print. That’s why I was able to walk out of there with $21 thousand.”

The man said he next presented his box of “ghost guns” to a staffer: “And he sees the tote and says, ‘how many firearms do you have?’ And I said, ‘110.’”

WKTV reports the man spent the day “haggling and negotiating” with the staff holding the event, which culminated in a favorable ruling on his part.

“And it ended with the guy and a lady from the budget office finally coming around with the 42 gift cards and counting them in front of me…$21,000 in $500 gift cards,” he said.

The man said he was amused by the fact he was able to expose the buyback flaws.

“I’m sure handing over $21,000 in gift cards to some punk kid after getting a bunch of plastic junk was a rousing success,” laughed Kem. “Gun buybacks are a fantastic way of showing, number one, that your policies don’t work, and, number 2, you’re creating perverse demand. You’re causing people to show up to these events, and, they don’t actually reduce crime whatsoever.”

The Attorney General’s office offered a salty response to WKTV, annoyed the man was able to bend the rules of their dysfunctional system.

“It’s shameful that this individual exploited a program that has successfully taken thousands of guns off the streets to protect our communities from gun violence. We have partnered with local police throughout the state to recover more than 3,500 guns, and one individual’s greedy behavior won’t tarnish our work to promote public safety. We have adjusted our policies to ensure that no one can exploit this program again for personal gain.”

Adding even more hilarity to the already humorous situation, New York State Attorney General Letitia James later bragged about obtaining “177 ghost guns” at the event in Utica.
