Man killed in crash in Fauquier, 6-year-old sitting in front seat seriously hurt

FAUQUIER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Rappahannock County man is dead after a crash in Fauquier County on Sunday and a 6-year-old who was a passenger in his car has serious injuries.

According to Virginia State Police, on Sunday, May 19, 30-year-old Joshua A. Farmer of the Amissville area of Rappahannock County was driving a 2017 Honda Accord heading south on Route 29 near Route 600.

Just before 6 p.m., he reportedly rear-ended a 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was stopped at a red light.

Farmer had life-threatening injuries and was taken to INOVA Fairfax Hospital, where he later died. According to state police, he was not wearing a seatbelt.

A 6-year-old girl riding with him was seriously injured in the crash. According to state police, she was sitting in the front seat of the Honda and was not in a proper child restraint device. She was taken to Fauquier Health for treatment of her injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner was not injured and was reportedly wearing a seatbelt.
