Solar panels coming to Springfield Road Landfill through Henrico, BrightSuite partnership

Solar panels will be installed on about 2 acres atop the closed Springfield Road Landfill to capture renewable energy that will power a nearby sewage pump station. The solar energy system is expected to be operational in 2025, under an agreement between Henrico County and BrightSuite, a subsidiary of Dominion Energy.

Henrico expects the system will allow it to save more than $600,000 on electricity costs over 30 years.

“This will establish Henrico as the leading locale in our region in environmental innovation and stewardship,” Three Chopt District Supervisor Tommy Branin said.
