RVA Music Night: Butcher Brown, Celler Dwellers, Cassidy Snider and the Wranglers at Brown’s Island
Come on downtown to the island for one of the city’s most popular events – this week featuring some great local bands. Cassidy Snider and the Wranglers kick things off at 6:15 p.m. with some high energy blues-folk dance music. Celler Dwellers bring the indie rock at 7:15 p.m. and nationally known group, Butcher Brown, drops the jazz funk fusion bomb at 8:20 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Children 12 and under are free.
Peter Rowan’s Free Mexican Airforce featuring Los Texmaniacs at the Tin Pan
Legendary American bluegrass musician and composer Peter Rowan (who played in Old in the Way with Jerry Garcia) plugs in with his fellow Grammy-winning, Los TexManiacs, featuring Max Baca on the 12-string bajo sexto, who has played with everyone from the Texas Tornados to the Rolling Stones, with nephew Josh Baca, Noel Hernandez, Danny Martinez and Rowan on guitar and vocals playing their Tex Mex conjunto favorites. 8 to 9:30 p.m. Go here for tickets.

Richmond Symphony Big Tent in Abner Clay Park
Come listen to some beautiful (free) music under the Big Tent at this “culmination of a partnership between the Children’s Book and Music Festival hosted at the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia (BHMVA) and the Richmond Symphony. The outdoor concert will feature the music of Florence Price, Joseph Bologne, and Virginia native, Adolphus Hailstork.
BHMVA will also have special museum hours with family activities leading up to concert time. Sponsored by the City of Richmond & the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia.
Legends on Grace Street with Steve Bassett at Dominion Energy Center for the Performing Arts
An up-close-and personal conversation between Tim Timberlake and musician and producer Steve Bassett, a native of Richmond who has produced 20 albums and whose song, “Sweet Virginia Breeze,” coauthored with Robbin Thompson, is the official state song. Doors open at 7 p.m. and event starts at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $42.
