Two suspects allegedly flatten tire in parking lot, try to steal purse from driver in Greene County

GREENE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two suspects allegedly flattened a vehicle’s tire in the parking lot of a Walmart in Greene County, after which officials say one suspect attempted to steal the driver’s purse when she returned to her vehicle.

On Monday, April 1, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office received a request for deputies to respond to the Walmart in the Ruckersville area, located at 135 Stoneridge Drive.

The victim stated that she was approached by a Hispanic man and a Hispanic woman in the parking lot as she was getting into her vehicle.

The suspects then told the victim she had a flat tire and would help her replace it, according to the sheriff’s office.

The female suspect then walked to the rear passenger side to show the victim, while the male suspect went into the vehicle and tried to steal the victim’s purse.

The victim then confronted the male suspect, after which both suspects fled the scene in two separate vehicles.

Officials describe the vehicles as a black sedan and a black SUV, both with out of state tags.

Upon further investigation, it was found that the vehicle’s valve stem was intentionally damaged, which caused the flat tire.

According to the sheriff’s office, security footage showed about three to four suspects in the area for an extended time, approaching several vehicles in the parking lot.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office at 434-985-2222.
