Representatives from U.S. Health and Human Services visited an American mask factory called Prestige Ameritech back in 2007 and told its owners that the U.S. mask supply would fail in a pandemic. The owners of the factory were excited—that was exactly why they bought the factory when the previous company moved overseas. But their optimism was short-lived. H.H.S. was merely there to “study” the problem. Joining us in this episode is Mike Bowen, the co-owner of U.S. mask manufacturing company Prestige Ameritech.
